As many as 1,835 positions in City Government environments are vacated by Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok). This is intended to improve government effectiveness in service to be more optimal.

Basuki Inaugurates 3 Mayors and 1 RegentJakarta Provincial Government has cut 1,500 positions from 8,011 original positions to become only 6,511 positions. From 1,835 are still vacated positions. The positions cannot be removed, because included in the law. So Basuki sent a letter to Home Affairs Ministry for asking a permit to left vacant.
"We have already sent a letter to the Minister of Home Affairs, and has been answered. He agreed about that," said the former Regent of East Belitung.
He has no idea when the positions will be available again. Some of empty positions are vice of urban village head and head of section at urban village level.
