Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub)'s Cruise Division Head Leo Amstrong Manalu said Muara Angke Port is the only port of the Jakarta administration that serves residents from mainland Jakarta to Seribu Islands.
It was revitalized, as many parts of the building needed repairs due to the effects of age and aimed at creating comfort and safety for residents, especially passengers who want to travel to Seribu Islands.
“Old buildings are torn down then we build new ones. We elevate the building about 1-2 meters to anticipate tidal flooding. The gate system parking and passenger entry and exit routes have been arranged. We also have a canteen that is comfortable for MSMEs," he explained, Tuesday (7/12).
He continued the port now has a capacity of up to 2,040 passengers where the only passengers allowed to enter the port area are ticket holders
Currently, the Dishub has also built a fence in the port area so that it is sterile. It is different from the conditions before it was revitalized, where the port was not sterile because everyone could enter.
"There are two temporary counters, namely the Dishub ship counter and combined counter for boat taxi operators. So, those who can enter must have bought tickets," he added.
He added ticket purchases at the temporary port were
still manual while waiting for the making of the online ticketing system in October 2022.He hoped that the level of tourist visits to Seribu Islands could be better and could recover the economy of local residents and MSMEs.
"Besides being the best form of service, this revitalization can also shape the character of the community. Because now they are used to seeing orderly port service facilities," he stated.
