Jakarta Wins Two Awards for Fulfillment of Children's Rights

The Jakarta administration won a double-winner award related to the fulfillment of children's rights.

The first award was from the National Child Protection Commission (KPAI) on July 21, 2022. Jakarta is deemed a local government that has a commitment to Child Protection and Reporting based on the Information Monitoring and Evaluation Reporting System (SIMEP) for Child Protection.
The second award was the Child-friendly Province (Provila) from the Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection (KemenPPPA).

Through his official Instagram, Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan expressed his gratitude for the double-winner award related to the fulfillment of children's rights that Jakarta achieved.
According to him, it was not related to awards but rather to joint efforts in creating a conducive atmosphere for children's growth and development thus Jakarta can be incised as a Child-Friendly City at this time.
"We express our deepest gratitude to the ministry and the Indonesian Child Protection Commission for the award given to Jakarta," he added, Tuesday (7/26).
He went on to say that this achievement is the result of collective work together where there is a lot of intervention that sometimes the performance is not seen but the impact is felt by all.
Therefore, the administration will continue to be fully committed to making the best efforts to meet and provide protection rights for children.
"Hope this effort with all the prayers and support of all Jakarta residents can make this city a role model in ensuring a good future for children," he furthered.
Jakarta Empowerment, Child Protection, and Population Control Agency (PPAPP) Head Tuty Kusumawati expressed that the Convention on the Children's Rights and Law number 35/2014 which is an amendment to Law number 23/2002 on Child Protection, expressly states the principles in realizing the fulfillment of children's rights and protection, which includes the right to life, growth, and development, protection rights, and participation rights.
The administration was fully committed to doing its best to fulfill children's rights and provide protection for children. Among others are with KSD 13, forming the Pos SAPA (Women and Children's Friends Post) in BUMNs, Universities, and RPTRAs.
Then PPKS (Family Welfare Service Post), PIK Keluarga (Family Information and Consultation Center), Forum PUSPA (Public Participation for Welfare of Women and Children), PUSPAGA (Family Learning Center), PATBM (Community-Based Integrated Child Protection), and PUSPA (Family Service Center).
“Jakarta keeps striving to meet the Child-friendly City/District indicators from institutional strengthening and five children's rights clusters. The cluster of civil rights and freedoms; alternative family and care environment clusters; the basic health and welfare cluster, the education cluster, the use of leisure and cultural activities; and special protection clusters," she explained.
She added that Jakarta is also consistently improving to innovate, collaborate, and create a safe and peaceful atmosphere for children from various sides of the policy and including the empowerment of facilities. In addition, the elderly, people with disabilities, and pregnant women need to pay attention to protection and equality.
"The award is a trigger for the administration to continuously complete efforts to give a feeling of equality to all," she added.

1). Category of Provincial Governments that have a commitment to Child Protection and Reporting based on the SIMEP for Child Protection
