Disparekraf Holds 50th Jakarta Abang None Jakarta Pageant

The Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Agency once again holds the Jakarta Abang None pageant this year after a two-year hiatus amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

This event is one of the efforts for the development of the young generation thus Jakarta has quality human resources to be on par with other developed cities in the world.

"Jakarta Abang None in the future will be a spokesperson for Jakarta. Not only that, they will represent Jakarta in important activities not only on a local scale but also on an international scale that will support the progress of Jakarta as a global city. We believe the capacity of these youths is the best in Jakarta and they can speak more on a global level," explained Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Agency Head, Andhika Permata in Jakarta, as quoted by Jakarta PPID's press release, Thursday (9/1).

He explained that this competition was deemed special, as it was the 50th generation as well as the oldest regional ambassador election event in Indonesia.

Moreover, it also coincided with the 2022 U20 Mayors Summit, where Jakarta was the host, which was part of the G20 engagement group.

The series of Jakarta Abang None 2022 competitions started in June 2022 from the city/regency level Abang None competitions. Then, the top three best from each city/regency were sent to participate in activities at the provincial level.

In the selection process for the selection of Jakarta Abang None at the provincial level, each finalist received various kinds of debriefing and coaching to improve their competence as Jakarta Ambassadors.

Other series of activities carried out during the selection process were dance exercises, public speaking, city tours, and talent show activities.

As for the information, the selection process is carried out through a rigorous judging process from nine different fields with a jury chaired by Sri Haryati as Economic Assistant for City Secretary.

Winners and other finalists will serve for the next year. They are expected to actively contribute to promoting Indonesia, especially Jakarta in its tourism potential, creative economy, and culture, especially through digital creativity.

It is because the tourism sector in the future will be full of innovation and adaptation to technological advances.

The final Jakarta Abang None 2022 competition will be held on September 2, 2022, at the Ciputra Artprenuer Theater, South Jakarta.

All finalists on the final night will give speeches about Jakarta the Global City. To enliven it, there will be performances from Hivi and Maliq D'essentials.
