Jakarta Declaration of Child-Friendly Schools

That's why the Declaration of Child-Friendly Schools was held at all levels of education

The Jakarta administration is committed to maintaining Jakarta as a Child-Friendly Province (Provila).

This commitment was again proven through the Declaration of Child-Friendly Schools initiated by Jakarta Women’s Empowerment, Family Planning, and Child Protection (PPAPP) and Education (Disdik) agencies.

As many as 288 educational units coordinated by Disdik have been self-evaluated using the 'SRA Form' from the Deputy for Fulfillment of Children's Rights for the Ministry of Women Empowerment and Child Protection (Kemen PPPA). Thus, the educational unit received the title of Child-Friendly School.

Jakarta PPAPP Agency Head, Tuty Kusumawati stated that the socialization and declaration of Child-Friendly Schools is one of the action plans for Regional Strategic Activities No. 13 related to the Prevention and Handling of Violence against Women and Children.

"That's why the Declaration of Child-Friendly Schools was held at all levels of education starting from kindergarten, elementary, junior high, and high school/vocational school," she expressed, Friday (9/30).

She explained that Presidential Regulation No. 25/2021 on Child-Friendly Regency or City Policies mandates that the governor is responsible for the realization of Provila. Mayors and regents are also responsible for administering KLA in their areas.

“According to their authority, governors and mayors or regents are responsible for achieving KLA qualifications. Evaluation of KLA achievements will be conducted every year, so it requires collaboration between regional apparatuses," she explained.

Implementation of Child-Friendly Cities or Districts, specifically regulated through Governor's Decree No. 1426/2019 on the Establishment of the KLA Task Force. This task force regulates the roles and responsibilities of the Jakarta administration apparatus according to their duties and functions.

"Regional officials who are designated as coordinators per cluster are responsible for the fulfillment of the achievement of indicators from the cluster, starting from clusters I, II, III, IV, and V, as well as institutional clusters," she explained.

She appreciated education units or schools that had evaluated Child-Friendly Schools using the 'Borang SRA' independently.

Despite not all, this activity will strengthen Jakarta as a province and increase the achievement of a child-friendly city or district certification in the coming year.

"We appreciate Disdik which has played a large role in fulfilling the rights and protection of children in education units," she stated.
