Flood Anticipation, Sheet Pile Installed S. Jakarta

To anticipate flood in rainy season, S. Jakarta Water Management sub-dept. will install sheet pile alongside of Kali Krukut which across the Jalan Canadiyanti RT 01/08, Pela Mampang Urban village, Mampang Prapatan to prevent the river to overflow.

Head of S. Jakarta Water Management sub-dept., Deddy Budiwidodo said, the sheet pile installation with 300 meters long will be implemented this year with budget of Rp 5 billion.

Currently, sheet pile installation has become important issue because the water level in Kali Krukut increased during the rainy season.
"The area around Kali Krukut is usually inundated when the water level increased," said Budiwidodo.
Budiwidodo added, the local citizens also tried to make barrier at Kali Krukut. However, the wall often broken-down due to high water debit of the river.
"Actually, the citizens has made the wall to prevent the river overflow, but because it was built without technical calculation, the wall was broken-down three times," he added.
According to him, before the sheet pile is installed, his side helps to anticipate the flood by preparing water pump. "We provide two static pumps with absorption level of 500 liter per seconds," he uttered.
