As many as 490 street vendors selling on Jalan Hidup Baru, Pademangan Barat Urban Village, North Jakarta, Monday (1/26), controlled by 400 joint personnel. Those joint personnel consisted of Satpol PP, army, police, Cleanliness Sub-Department, and Transportation Sub-Department.

Head of Pademangan Sub-District, Yusuf Madjid explained street vendors in RW 02, 04, and 05 Pademangan Barat Urban Village were previously under the guidance of North Jakarta Cooperatives, Micro, Small and Medium Scale Enterprises and Trade (KUMKMP) Sub-Department as JU 41.

"But one year ago, the JU 41 was officially dissolved and street vendors are no longer allowed to sell along Jalan Hidup Baru," he explained.

He stated, his sub-department has asked the vendors selling at Inpres Market, RW 10, Pademangan Barat Urban Village and Elang Market, Pademangan Timur Urban Village. Yet it was ignored.

"Initially, we recorded 80 vendors. But in fact, there are 490 stalls in the field. Surely their existence disturbed traffic and drain function," he expressed.

He expressed before controlling, the socialization had been done first. Unfortunately, the vendors did not respond it until the last notification on Sunday (1/25).

Eliminarti (40), one of vendors admitted he will not move to another place because the Inpres Market as a relocation site condition cannot accommodate all the vendors.

Rice vendor who has been selling 16 years expected Pademangan Sub-District to provide an adequate relocation sites and bustling shoppers.
