It was also participated by City Secretary, Marullah Matali; Forkopimda members, OPD leaders, freedom fighter veterans; PKK leaders, and DWP leaders.

At that time, the Acting Governor read the message from the Social Minister regarding Heroes' Day with the theme 'My Hero, My Example'.

City Commits to Prioritizing Flood, Traffic, and Garbage Handling

He advised Heroes' Day to be celebrated with reflections to rediscover the traces of the heroes in our lives as an independent nation and state. The struggle is important to be infused with passion and sincerity. The spirit of moving in unison against the enemy, hand in hand with youth and fighters from all over the archipelago, all merged into one. Freedom or death!

“Indonesian independence fighters valiantly will not surrender to anyone. The future of the Indonesian Revolution deserves to be fought for and is not a gift from anyone, but the blessing and grace of God Almighty," he expressed.

He stated that one of the threats and challenges faced today is global warming which triggers various natural disasters, food, energy, and clean water scarcity.

"That's why we need to be prepared to face disasters together with seriousness. Let's move on together," he stressed.

He also invited all parties to develop and utilize new and renewable energy, including the development of food sources based on potential and local wisdom, as a solution to strengthen food diversity. Then, manage water resources wisely to ensure security and resilience, which is expected to support the sustainability of the lives of present and future generations.

"From Aceh to Papua, I have seen and felt the stretching, as well as the enthusiasm, to rise, improve knowledge, train skills, to cultivate and manage crops. This is the real challenge, managing Indonesia's extraordinary natural wealth for the glory of the nation," he uttered.

Hence, he asked that today's Hero's Day commemoration be filled with being a hero starting with the self, family, and the environment.

“Make the values of heroism an inspiration in every step and life. Remember and honor the struggle of the heroes, build the collective memory of the nation, and strengthen the unity and integrity of the Unitary Republic of Indonesia. Heroes will be role models to navigate challenging times, organize the future and become winners. Happy Hero's Day," he closed.
