Drains in 44 Urban Villages Cleaned

Central Jakarta Mayor, Mangara Pardede instructed his ranks to hold a communal work at the level of city until urban village in order to clean up mud and trash left by flooding. Pardede stated, the activity is done simultaneously in 44 urban villages in Central Jakarta. He also asked the entire drain to be checked as puddles anticipation.

Such communal work, he said, also involves hundreds of personnel from Water Management as well as Fire and Rescue Handling Sub-Departments. 

1,500 TNI Personnel Cleaned Ciliwung River

There are two flood-prone areas, namely Jalan Bendungan Jago, Kemayoran and Jalan Letjen Suprapto, Cempaka Putih. At this time, these roads has begun to be cleaned by officers. "The drain along Jalan Letjen Suprapto must be added thus it is not easy to stagnant," he uttered.

Head of Operation Section, Central Jakarta Fire and Rescue Handling Sub-Department, Muchtar Zakaria added as many as 100 personnel and 12 fire cars are prepared to optimize the cleaning.

"Officers have difficulties to clean mud as it began to harden. But it can be handled," he exclaimed.
