17,743 Street Vendors in W. Jakarta will Be Relocated

West Jakarta Administration will arrange street vendors in a bid to create an orderly and comfortable capital city. Those vendors are scheduled to be relocated to some temporary locations.

While the remaining 17,743 vendors are still spread at some points, such as streets, parks, etc

Head of Cooperatives, Micro, Small and Medium Scale Enterprises and Trade Department (KUMKMP), Slamet Widodo uttered thus far, as many as 1,157 out of 18,000 vendors who were registered were already relocated. 

"While the remaining 17,743 vendors are still spread at some points, such as streets, parks, etc," he said, Wednesday, (2/18).

He targeted to complete the relocation that initiated by Jakarta Governor, Basuki 'Ahok' Tjahaja Purnama this year. In his region, there are three areas with the highest number of vendors, such as Pesing Kedoya, Jembatan Lima and Jalan Asemka.

"Around 200 vendors selling on Jalan Asemka, will be relocated to some traditional markets owned by PD Pasar Jaya," uttered Widodo.

On the other side, the vendors located alongside Jalan Asemka who already have a contract with the Ministry of Public Works are allowed to trade until 20 year ahead.
