Maja River's Sheet Pile in Kalideres Collapsed

A Maja River's sheet pile located at RW 13 Kalideres, West Jakarta, collapsed as long as 20 meters. How ironic, the condition is left since two weeks ago.

Besides unstable soil, we suspect the sheet pile collapse is due to the passing trucks around the river

If the sheet pile is not repaired, it can disturb water flow and cause overflowing rivers and inundation. Moreover, the current rainfall intensity remains high in the last few days.

Wardhani (46), a citizen of RT 12/13 Kalideres Urban Village disclosed the site was initially used as normalization project to build a sheet pile using river stones that resembles the house's foundation.

A Ciliwung River's Dam Collapsed

"The project was complete three months ago. Besides unstable soil, we suspect the sheet pile collapse is due to the passing trucks around the river. This is because there is also a project of fencing and dredging on the empty land near the river," he expressed, Friday (2/20).

When being confirmed on this matter, Head of Maintenance Division for West Jakarta Water Management Sub-Department Santo promised to respond the public complaints.

"If the news is true, we will ask PT to repair the sheet pile using concrete layer method. Considering it is still in the maintenance phase," he uttered.
