Acting Governor: BUMD and its Families must Be Anti-Corruption

Jakarta Acting Governor, Heru Budi Hartono asked all commissioners, supervisory boards, BUMD directors, and their spouses to play a unified role as the first bastion in preventing corruption.

He said the Jakarta Provincial Government could not work alone to overcome the problem of corruption in government bodies.

"There are legislatives and executives ready to help. Thank you to the board of directors, commissioners and partners for transmitting this integrity, thus we can prevent it together," he expressed, when he opened the Family Technical Guidance with Integrity for BUMD under Jakarta Government at Jakarta City Hall, Monday (5/29).

On that occasion, 56 Commissioners and 54 Directors of Jakarta BUMD and their spouses were expected to become agents of building integrity in the work and family environment, especially in preventing corruption in a bid to create BUMDs that have integrity, can perform optimally, and are responsible according to business practices healthy, and give work for the archipelago.

"We follow the rules and maintain the integrity. This Bimtek aims to do prevention from an early age, realizing good and clean corporate governance within the Jakarta Government," he explained.

KPK Education and Community Participation Deputy, Wawan Wardiana said the corruption eradication strategy is not enough to increase enforcement. There were 1,551 people who had been made suspects and had even been put in jail by KPK in 2022.

"If we take action, the person who was summoned will be imprisoned by the KPK as a deterrent effect," he expressed.

He added the KPK together with ministries and government agencies was improving the system to prevent corrupt practices. For instance, the system meets face to face, what often happens is transactional.

According to him, prevention can be done from the educational path. This is intended to understand, instill, and develop anti-corruption values within oneself and disseminate them in the smallest environment.

"We're pushing through a prevention strategy, how can this system that is currently running be used by people as individuals to commit acts of corruption. Prevent that by providing studies and providing recommendations, thus people can no longer be corrupt," he explained.

As for the information, this Family with Integrity Technical Guidance activity will be held nine times, namely: One activity will be attended by directors and commissioners of BUMD, one activity will be attended by heads of boards, heads of agencies and heads of bureaus, six activities will be attended by echelon 3 officials, including heads sub-agencies, division heads, sub-district heads and urban village heads in five administrative city areas and one Seribu Islands Regency whose implementation is adjusted to each region, and one activity is attended by officials within the health agency including officials at the regional public hospital.
