Idul Adha Holiday Extended, Disdik Adjusts PPDB 2023/2024 Schedule

As we know, the government has decided to extend this year's Idul Adha (Day of Sacrifice) holiday by giving an extra two days of mandatory leave before and after the Muslim festival, which falls on June 29.

The mandatory leave takes place on June 28, when the second-largest Muslim organization Muhammadiyah will celebrate Idul Adha, and June 30.

Seeing that, the Jakarta Education Agency (Disdik) is making adjustments to the implementation of Public School Enrollments (PPDB) for 2023/2024 Academic Year by issuing Disdik's Decree Number e-0051/2023.

"With changes to holidays and joint leave, it is necessary to adjust the PPDB schedule, thus it doesn't harm the community," expressed Jakarta Disdik Acting Head, Purwosusilo, in the Jakarta Provincial Government's press release, Friday (6/23).

He explained that several stages would be conducted with a delay in time. For the first priority affirmation pathway (foster children in orphanages and children of health workers who died from Covid-19) at SD, SMP, SMA, and SMK levels, the pathway for moving parents' assignments at SD, SMP, SMA, and SMK levels and the second stage at SD level and zoning paths for junior and senior high schools when they were inputted into the system and the original announcement was on June 28 to July 3.

As for the previous self-reports on June 30 and July 1 became July 4 and 5. In addition, for the third stage of SD level and the second stage of SMP, SMA and SMK levels, adjustments were also made. Registration or school selection and the selection process originally scheduled for July 3, 4, and 5 were postponed to July 6, 7, and 8. The announcement that was originally July 5 became July 8.

With this adjustment, it is hoped that parents and guardians of students can make good use of it.

"Increased pubic leave maybe the parent wants to take a vacation with their family, after that they can propose the school registration process for their sons and daughters again," he added.

The Disdik also closed PPDB Information Services through Command Posts, Call Centers and social media on joint leave and Saturday, July 1, 2023.
