Dengue Fever Sufferers Decreasing in C. Jakarta

Anti-mosquito campaign (PSN) activity starts to give positive impact on reducing the number of dengue fever (DBD) patients in Central Jakarta.

Based on Central Jakarta Health Sub-Department's data, as many as 91 cases of dengue fever reported during January to March. This number decreased from last year that reached 321 cases.

"Citizen's awareness to have a healthy life as well as increased the anti-mosquito campaign activity in the area that causes a decrease in dengue patients' number," explained the Central Jakarta Sub Department Head, Reggy Stephanus Sobary, Wednesday (3/25).

Despite the drastic reduction in the number of cases, Sobary still reminded the voluntary larvae controllers (jumantik) and the citizens to not loosen their performance to remain vigilant of the disease that caused by aedes aegypty mosquito.

"We should not relax. That's why we'll ask urban village head with the jumantik to check into citizen's homes every Friday, "told Sobary.

Sobary added, although Kemayoran Sub District had becomes the highest area of dengue fever cases with 32 cases this year, the number is declining from the last year of 110 cases.
