Heroes' Day, City Secretary Joko: ASN Must Fight Ignorance and Poverty

City Secretary, Joko Agus Setyono became Inspector of the 78th Heroes' Day commemoration ceremony within the Jakarta Provincial Government held at the South Silang Monas, Central Jakarta, Friday (11/10).

It was participated by the state civil apparatus (ASN) under the Jakarta City Hall and BUMD leaders, and the family of a national hero.

On that occasion, he delivered his message by reading various texts from the Social Minister, Tri Rismaharini. He stated, the theme "Heroic Spirit for the Nation's Future in Fighting Poverty and Ignorance" in commemoration of the Heroes' Day's 78th anniversary was raised through reflection to answer the increasingly real threat of modern colonialism.

"Considering that Indonesia is a large market and is blessed with so many extraordinary natural resources, such as fertile land, abundant sea products, earth content that holds various minerals," he expressed, as qouted by the Jakarta Provincial Government's press release.

With abundant wealth, it could be a provision for the Indonesian people to continue the struggle of the heroes who at that time only used sharpened bamboo, but were able to face the enemy in the battle of November 10, 1945.

"At that time, the people joined hands with community leaders and religious leaders and their followers, youth troops and fighters from all over the archipelago merged into one," he explained.

He said this spirit must continue accompanied by efforts to eradicate ignorance and fight poverty throughout Indonesia.

"Grateful that now the spirit to eradicate ignorance and fight poverty can be seen and felt throughout the country," he explained.

He asserted that the spirit that led the Indonesian people to refuse to lose and surrender to circumstances had united the people in a bid to realize a national life that was united, sovereign, just and prosperous, as well as advancing general welfare and making the nation's life intelligent, to create a better future.

"Together, we will build businesses and a people's economy that will make Indonesia grow into an increasingly advanced and prosperous country. Happy Heroes' Day 2023," he asserted.
