The Jakarta Library and Archives Agency (Dispusip) has noted that as many as 40 RPTRA libraries or urban village libraries have received accreditation certificates from the National Library.
Our target is libraries that comply with the SNP
Of 40 libraries, 15 RPTRA libraries were accredited in 2022 and 25 other libraries were in 2023.
Library Development and Cultivating a Love for Reading Section Head, Suryanto said accreditation is recognition or legitimacy from a national accreditation institution, in this case the National Library.
Dispusip Commits to Improving Special Library Data QualityHe explained the Dispusip held coaching with National Library Standards (SNP) targets before moving on to the accreditation process. They could recommend or propose an accreditation assessor to the National Library for libraries that have SNP.
"Our target is libraries that comply with the SNP, if accreditation is a bonus. Accredited libraries must have SNP, but libraries that have SNP do not need accreditation. The guidance held by Dispusip is indeed aimed at SNP, but we encourage it to achieve accreditation. 40 RPTRA libraries have been accredited and all must be SNP," he expressed, Thursday (2/15).
There were six basic components for a library to obtain an SNP, namely, collections, infrastructure, types of services, personnel or human resources, library administration, and management.
In the meantime, three supporting components were no less important, namely, innovation and creativity, the level of reading interest and the Community Literacy Development Index (IPLM).
He added those components describe all the performance achievements of a library. Principally, once the library is in accordance with the SNP, it can apply for accreditation to the National Library for assessment.
"Accreditation A is valid for five years, B for four years, and C for three years. When entering that period, the RPTRA Library needs to be reaccredited," he stated.
