Inundation that hit Jalan DI Panjaitan, Cipinang Cempedak, Jatinegara, East Jakarta, Monday (4/1) afternoon, immediately receded in less than an hour.

Jatinegara Sub-district Water Resources (SDA) Executing Head, Roby Triawan said inundation as high as 20 to 40 centimeters started to occur at 1.51 PM, when the heavy rain accompanied by lightning hit the city. However, at 2.45 PM, the inundation, which covered an area of 600 square meters, receded.

"We also operate two stationary pump units at the Brantas Pump House to drain the inundation and channel it to the Cipinang River. The pump capacity operated is 500 liters per second each," he explained.
Cempedak Cipinang Urban Village Head, Abdul Muin added that to handle it, around 20 personnel of PPSU were deployed to some points on Jalan DI Panjaitan. They cleaned waste in the storm drains and channels on the west side of the road.
