Joko Agus explained that Jakarta's poverty rate in March 2024 is also below the national level at 9.03 percent.
"A number of commodities that have a big influence on the poverty line in March 2024 are mostly food groups including rice, cigarettes, meat, purebred chicken eggs, instant noodles and bread," he explained.
He said that Jakarta's Gini ratio based on Jakarta BPS data for the March 2024 period also decreased by 0.008 points to 0.423 from 0.431 in March 2023.
"This data indicates that the expenditure gap between residents is decreasing," he added.
The Jakarta Provincial Government continues to implement strategies to reduce the burden of public expenditure, reduce the amount of poverty, and increase public income.
"A number of programs have been implemented to reduce the poverty rate and Gini ratio in Jakarta, such as selling cheap basic necessities, providing cheap food for certain communities, public transportation subsidies, community empowerment through Jakarta Entrepreneur, implementing social net security programs, etc," he stated.
Based on BPS data, the poverty rate in Jakarta Province for the period March 2024 was 4.3 percent; Banten 5.84 percent; West Java 7.46 percent; East Java 9.79 percent; Central Java 10.47 percent; and DI Yogyakarta 10.83 percent.
