This Week, Four Infiltration Wells on Payung Island Completed

The Seribu Islands Water Resources Sub-agency (SDA) is constructing infiltration wells and drainage in residential areas, RT 06/04, precisely in front of SDN Pulau Payung 04 Pagi, Pulau Tidung Urban Village, South Seribu Islands Sub-district.

The location needs wells and is prone to inundation when it rains

Seribu Islands SDA Sub-agency Head, Hendri said the well is built to follow up on residents' aspirations to prevent inundation in the rainy season.

"The location needs wells and is prone to inundation when it rains," he expressed, Tuesday (7/23).

He explained each well would be 60 centimeters long with 40 centimeters wide and 50 centimeters deep. They would connect one tub to another using a six-inch paralon pipe.

"This work has been ongoing since July 16 and is targeted for completion by the end of this week," he explained.

According to him, its existence would become a place for rainwater to infiltrate into the ground. Besides preventing inundation, stored water could improve clean water sources in the ground.

"We also often dredge the channels and drainage tanks at the location," he explained.

The work above received appreciation from a resident from RT 06/04, Tidung Island Urban Village, Maulana (54).

"It has been fast and neat so far. Hopefully, it can speed up the infiltration of rainwater into the ground to prevent inundation," he said.
