Gas Leak Devours Four Rented Houses in Kebon Kosong

A fire broke out on Tuesday (8/27) morning at four rented houses in RT 12/02, Kebon Kosong Urban Village, Kemayoran, Central Jakarta.

Central Jakarta Fire and Rescue Sub-agency (Gulkarmat) Head, Asril Rizal said his party received a fire report from residents who came to the Kemayoran Fire Station and immediately deployed officers to handle the incident.

"We managed to put out the flames at 7.05 AM. No casualties in the incident, but only the owner of the house that was burned and the child suffered minor burns," he explained.
Central Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-agency's Fire and Rescue Section Head, Ahmad Syaiful explained that from the witness' information, the fire came out from the house of a resident who works as a meatball seller. Before the incident, the victim was cooking meatballs as his/her merchandise.
Then, while cooking, the fire suddenly grew bigger and the victim's efforts to extinguish it using simple tools were also unsuccessful. Unluckily, the fire was getting bigger and harder to control.
Because of that, the incident damaged four rented houses in RT 12/02 Kebon Kosong and two residents' homes in RT 13/02 Kebon Kosong. Overall, the area affected by the fire was around 200 square meters.
"In total, there are six households with 19 people. Allegedly, it is caused by damage to the gas stove hose regulator," he closed.
