The reservoir, which has a total area of ​​4.5 hectares with a main water body of 2.65 hectares, is built to reduce the burden of water flow entering the Gendong River, Cakung Drain and Bulak Cabe Pump, as well as providing an effective solution in preventing flooding in North Jakarta.

Jakarta Water Resource Agency's Flood Handling Sub-group Head, Ericson Indra Pulungan, said the main work of this reservoir includes land and landscape development, as well as the construction of a pump house with five cubic meters per second flow.

"Embung Rawa Malang is a strategic project in water management and flood control in this area. The 231 hectares reservoir is deigned to accommodate rainwater and reduce flood risk in North Jakarta," he said, Wednesday (9/25).

By reducing the burden of water flow into the Gendong River, Cakung Drain and Bulak Cabe Pump, it is hoped the reservoir give effective solution in preventing flood as well as strengthening the drainage system in North Jakarta.

Ericson added that the Rawa Malang Reservoir not only acts as a flood control infrastructure, but also provides long-term benefits for environmental balance in this area.
