4,127 honorary teachers be given KKI status
Jakarta DPRD Commission E Chairman, Muhammad Thamrin said that based on data from the Jakarta Education Agency (Disdik), there are currently 4,127 honorary teachers.
"We have requested that 4,127 honorary teachers be given KKI status so that they can be more prosperous," he expressed, Wednesday (11/6).
Commission E Chairman: City Must Optimize Job Training CentersHe explained the Education Agency (Disdik) had recruited 1,700 honorary teachers to become KKI in August 2024.
"There is also a selection of 1,900 teachers for Government Employee status with a Work Agreement or PPPK," he explained.
He explained the DPRD would also encourage the process of appointing honorary teachers to become KKI to be less complicated and burdensome, especially for those who have long provided service and have long experience.
"Even if the provisions require a test, Insya Allah (God willing), our friends, honorary teachers, will be able to get through it," he explained.
He added the Jakarta City Budget (APBD) is still able to finance the appointment of 4,127 honorary teachers to become KKI with an estimated budget requirement of Rp 262.5 billion based on the assumption that the Jakarta UMP in 2025 will be Rp 5.3 million.
"God willing, it can be met from the APBD 2025, especially since yesterday we also received additional transfer funds from the Revenue Sharing Fund by Rp 6 trillion," he added.
He hoped that the increase in the central government's Revenue Sharing Fund Transfer in the last 2 years could continue next year. Thus, it could be attempted to improve teacher welfare.
"The existence of honorary teachers is still very much needed to help improve the quality of education in Jakarta," he added.
Jakarta DPRD Commission E Member, Jhonny Simanjuntak hoped that in 2025, there will no longer be any honorary teachers because they have been appointed as KKI teachers.
"So, with the status of KKI teachers, their salaries are following the UMP. All honorary teachers will be whitened to become KKI next year," he uttered.
