Legislator Komisi D Usulkan Perbanyak TPU di Kawasan Padat Penduduk

Commission D: TPU in Jakarta must Be Upgraded

Jakarta DPRD Commission D Legislator, Ghozi Zulazmi, proposed that the Public Cemetery (TPU) in Jakarta should be added considering that it is a community need, especially in densely populated areas.

We have a target for how this TPU can be increased

"We have a target for how this TPU can be increased," he expressed, on the sidelines of the Draft Bylaw 2025 discussion meeting between Commission D and working partners at Grand Cempaka Resort, Bogor, West Java, Monday (11/18).

According to him, the Jakarta Parks and City Forest Agency could coordinate with the Housing and Settlement Area Agency in developing the TPU. It was because there were currently many densely populated settlements being built with the vertical housing concept, but they were not adequate.

He went on to say that the provision of burials needed to be adjusted to the population. He then cited, the Cakung area, East Jakarta, still has a few TPUs.

"Densely populated areas, for instance, with a lot of residents, need to be regulated proportionally," he explained.

He also proposed that the existing waqf graves could be turned into TPUs managed by the City Parks and Forestry Agency in a bid to facilitate people who need burial land.

Ideally, each sub-district should have one TPU to provide greater convenience to the community.

"I often receive aspirations related to the need for graves, including in Cakung Barat, where there are many flats. However, there is no TPU, no waqf grave," he closed.
