Kampung Rambutan Terminal AKAP Buses Undergo Ramp Check for Christmas

Ahead of Christmas and New Year holidays, the Pulogadung Motor Vehicle Testing Management Unit (UP PKB) holds a ramp check on AKAP Bus at Kampung Rambutan Terminal, East Jakarta, Thursday (12/12).

This is to ensure that the fleet is in roadworthy condition

Based on the information gathered in the field, personnel checked in detail AKAP buses' spareparts randomly selected on the departure route. Starting from the completeness of vehicle documents, checking brakes, lights, wipers, tires, doors, windows, horns, seat belts, to completeness of glass breaker hammers, and so on.

Pulogadung UP PKB Head, Edi Sufaat expressed the ramp check has been ongoing since December 1 and will be held until December 19, 2024. Then the actual ramp check is slated until the upcoming New Year.

"This is to ensure that the fleet is in roadworthy condition," he concluded.

Every day, there are five to 12 fleets undergo the ramp check which involved six certified personnel. As a result, several fleets were deemed unfit for operation.

Yet, the items were light in nature and had to be completed before carrying passengers, such as unavailability of glass breaking tools, cracked or dim headlight glass, no seat belts and others.

Kampung Rambutan Terminal Head, Yulza Ramadhoni added a security command post would be set up on December 18 or 19, 2024.

"As for the health post was set up already permanently and just operate," he explained.

He added it is always needed every time a long holiday approaches to welcome religious holidays or national and school holidays.

"This post is to anticipate any major incidents so that they can be quickly resolved together," he said.
