Tidal Floods in 12 RTs from N. Jakarta to Seribu Islands Recede

The Jakarta Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) has recorded that flooding due to tidal floods that hit 12 RTs in North Jakarta and Seribu Islands had receded on Monday (12/16) night.

No evacuation so far

Jakarta BPBD Head, Isnawa Adji said that based on the early warning issued by the Meteorology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) on December 11 to 20, 2024, it stated that the maximum sea tide phenomenon along with the new moon phase has the potential to increase the maximum sea tide height in the form of coastal flooding (rob) in the northern coastal area of ​​Jakarta and the sea tide causes the Alert 1 at Pasar Ikan Sluice Gate on Monday (12/16) at 8 AM, causing several floods in Jakarta.

"Until Monday (12/16) night, 12 RTs spread across Marunda and Pluit urban villages, North Jakarta and Panggang Island, Kelapa Island and Untung Jawa Island, Seribu Islands Regency, which were previously flooded, have receded," he expressed, Tuesday (12/17).

He explained the flooding on two roads in North Jakarta, namely Jalan Cumi, Penjaringan and Jalan RE Martadinata, or in front of the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) had also receded.

"No evacuation so far," he explained.

He added Jakarta BPBD deployed personnel to monitor flooding in each area and coordinated with SDA Agency, Bina Marga Agency, and Fire and Rescue Agency (Gulkarmat) to suction the floods.

"And ensure that the storm drain functions properly together with local urban village and sub-district heads. We're targeting the flood to recede quickly," he uttered.

Therefore, he urged residents to remain cautious and alert to potential flooding.

"In an emergency, residents can call the dial 112 for all emergency services. This is free and operates 24 hours non-stop," he uttered.

Here are areas that have receded from tidal floods:

1. Marunda Urban Village: 3 RTs

2. Panggang Island Urban Village: 6 RTs

3. Kelapa Island Urban Village: 1 RT

4. Untung Jawa Island Urban Village: 1 RT

5. Kelurahan Pluit: 1 RT

While the flooded roads have receded:

1. Jalan Cumi, Penjaringan Urban Village, Penjaringan Sub-district, North Jakarta

2. Jalan RE Martadinata (in front of JIS), Papanggo Urban Village, Tanjung Priok Sub-district, North Jakarta
