Acting Governor Teguh Retraces Jakarta's Historical Sites

Acting Jakarta Governor, teguh Setyabudi conducted a historical retracing activity by visiting several historical sites that have many stories about Jakarta.

The activity was also participated by Regional Secretary Marullah Matalu and Leaders of Regional Working Units.
Jakarta Prepares Festive Events to Welcome New Year's Eve CelebrationsThey visited historical sites namely House of Tugu, Kota Intan Bridge, Jakarta History Museum, Ceramic Musem, and Beos Station of Jakarta Kota.
"We did activity called JeJAKi Jakarta. We traced the history of Jakarta from the zero point at House of Tugu, a historical building built in 1740," Teguh said, (12/31).
During the activity, Teguh wore traditional Betawi clothing, namely a maroon pangsi shirt and a green sarong worn around the neck and equipped with a black cap.
"We wear pangsi clothes for men, and also traditional clothes for women to remind us how Jakarta was in the past," Teguh added.
The first site visited was the House of Tugu which is a 17th century building and used to owned by a Chinese merchant. The their trip continued to Kota Intant Bridge which is a historical point of international trade and place where the Padrao Inscription was discovered.
Then the trip was continued to Jakarta History Museum. Teguh was invited to see the superior collection and a replication of the Padrao Inscription. They continued the trip to Ceramic Museum which previously was used as the High Military Court.
And the last, Teguh visited Beos Station or Jakarta Kota to see transportation hisrotu and the MRT Museum that houses a collection of archaeological findings from the MRT line construction project.
"Beos Station is a witness of Jakarta's transportation system transformation from time to time. We also went to MRT museum which houses various archaeological objects found during the construction of MRT line. It is also a symbol of modern transportation progress in Jakarta," Teguh explained.
Teguh added that the trip was ended by using Transjakarta bus to City Hall. He appreciated the retracement activity since it reminded him of Jakarta history and development.
"Hopefully this will strenghen and increase our knowledge and increase our love for Jakarta," he stated.
Meanwhile, Regional Secretary, Marullah Matali said today's retracement activity was impresive.
"The activity should gain more knowledge about Jakarta and how its development also," he said.
He hopes the community may also understand the Jakarta's history to be more fall in love with the city.
