82,571 Trees in Jakarta Pruned Throughout 2024

The Jakarta Parks and City Forest Agency (Distamhut) has pruned 82,571 trees along 2024.

This aims to ensure that green spaces remain safe and comfortable for the public

February was recorded as the period with the highest number of prunings, reaching 7,739 trees. While November was the lowest with 5,249 trees.

Distamhut's Data and Information Center Head, Ivan Murcahyo said the pruning was conducted to anticipate unwanted things which could endanger the safety of residents.

"This aims to ensure that green spaces remain safe and comfortable for the public, especially in extreme weather," he expressed, Wednesday (1/8).

Thereby, the Distamhut emphasized the importance of community involvement by encouraging residents to report the presence of trees that need pruning via official channels.

"This collaboration is very important to create a safer and more beautiful environment," he explained.

He hoped that it was capable of supporting the sustainability of the ecological and aesthetic functions of trees in urban spaces.

"Besides improving safety, it also ensures that existing trees remain healthy and can provide maximum benefits, as pollutant absorbers and oxygen providers," he stated.
