MRT to Parse Traffic Jam Better, Ahok Says

To learning about the history and the Jakarta City Government system, dozens of Elementary (SD) Students from Cikal on Jalan TB Simatupang, Cilandak, South Jakarta visited Jakarta City Hall and discuss with the Jakarta Governor, Basuki Tjahaja 'Ahok' Purnama on Thursday (5/28).

All highways flyovers also need to be built so the Jakarta will not be jammed as now

Many question that being asked by the students, one of the questions is about the traffic jam in capital that still not solved. Basuki answered, the traffic jam caused by the transportation sector development in Jakarta which is running very slow.

As example, the development project of rail-based transportation or Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) in capital should be done since long ago. "The MRT should been built since 28 years ago. But, there is no one who think about that until now," told Basuki in front of the students.

Djarot: MRT Project Should Be Accelerated

Basuki uttered, the road ratio is also supposed to be built as large as the increase number of motor vehicles in the capital.  According to him, the roads ratio addition and the MRT construction can solve the traffic jam problem in Jakarta. "All highways flyovers also need to be built so the Jakarta will not be jammed as now," he told.

Basuki added, the traffic jam also caused by the buying and selling private vehicles system which pass in Jakarta. "We receive tax from 10 million vehicles in Jakarta, not including those who are stubborn and do not pay taxes," he explained.

Because of that, Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov) focused to provide mass transport vehicle for the citizens so they can change their private vehicle. "If MRT, LRT, and Rapid Transit Bus have been provided, the traffic jam in capital will be no more,“ he told.
