Channel Normalization on Jalan Danau Gelinggang 1A Reaches 60 Percent

Central Jakarta Water Resource Sub-agency keeps intensifying the water channel normalization on Jalan Danau Gelinggang 1A, RT 10/04, Bendungan Hilir, Tanah Abang.

As the result, the work progress reaches 60 percent up to January 2025.

Tanah Abang Sub-district's Water Resource Implementer Unit Head, Eli Menawan Sari said the normalization is run based on resident's request since the water did not flow smoothly.

"We conduct the normalization to recreate the channel trace," she said, Friday (1/17).

Eli explained the normalization is applied in 60 cm of width and 80 cm height. It is planned to be run along 100 meter.

Not only recreating the trace, the normalization also conducts installing u-ditch. When it completes, the channel will be covered up.

According to her, the normalization has been running since Monday (12/30) ago. Her side deploys eight taskforce personnel everyday.

Up to Thursday (1/16), the work has reached 60 percent. It is hoped the work can be completed in early February 2025.

Hasan (42), resident of RW 04, Bendungan Hilir appreciated the normalization run by Tanah Abang Sub-district's Water Resource ranks.

"The condition could triggers inundation during heavy rain. Thanks for normalizing the channel," he admitted.
