The Jakarta Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) says the Weather Modification Operation (OMC) conducted is deemed effective in reducing flooding due to the high intensity of rainfall in Jakarta.

"Alhamdulillah (thank God), along December 2024, none of the 25 sub-districts were flooded," he explained.
He added one urban village, namely Pluit, Penjaringan Sub-district, North Jakarta, was flooded in December 2024. However, the flood occurred was caused by tidal floods but not heavy rain that fell at the end of 2024.
Acting Jakarta Governor, Teguh Setyabudi uttered the OMC evaluation had been done three times throughout December 2024.
"The evaluation results of the three OMC stages that have been implemented have had quite a significant impact, so we continue because we are able to anticipate flooding in Jakarta caused by heavy rain," he closed.
