Jakarta Environmental Agency Head, Asep Kuswanto said Governor Regulation No. 102/2021 manages commercial areas, including hospitality, must sort and manage their own waste without relying on government services. According to him, the policy is already in accordance with Ministry of Environmental and Forestry that encourage more responsible waste management for business sector.
"We already gave them three years since the regulation was issued. Tighter supervision and sanction to be applied later," he admitted.
The agency appeals hospitality sectors to adapt with the regulation and prepare waste sorting facility, also cooperates with third party for waste processing.
"Hopefully the supervision will decrease the impact due to the waste increase during Ramadan month," he stated.
