The government has announced that this year's Ramadhan will start on Saturday (3/1) following a limited isbat (confirmation) meeting with several Islamic organizations and other related parties in Jakarta on Friday (2/28) evening.

The Isbat meeting was led by Religion Minister, Nasarudin Umar at the Religion Ministry Office, Jalan Lapangan Banteng Barat, Sawah Besar Sub-district, Central Jakarta.
"The objective conditions tonight, from the eastern region, the central part to the western part at the tip of Java Island, can't see the crescent moon. We can only see the crescent moon in Aceh, the farthest west," he said, Friday (2/28).

Generally, the observation of the crescent moon found its height to be between 3 degrees 5.91 minutes and 4 degrees 40.96 minutes. The elevation angle observed ranged from 4 degrees 47.3 minutes to 6 degrees 24.14 minutes.
This year's isbat session was attended by representatives from Islamic Community Organizations (Ormas), the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), and the House of Representatives (DPR), as well as representatives from ambassadors of several countries and related experts.
Therefore, the process of the isbat session for the determination of 1 Ramadhan 1446 Hijri had been representative. In response to Brunei and Singapore, which set 1 Ramadhan on March 2, 2025, he emphasized that it was mainly due to their technical inability to see the crescent moon.
"We are earlier because the height of the moon and its elevation are different. We already have someone who found it and was sworn in, it applies to the entire territory of Indonesia," he asserted.
MUI Chairman for Education and Cadre Development, Abullah Jaidi, expressed gratitude that the isbat trial process was completed and declared that 1 Ramadan falls on Saturday (3/1). He congratulated Muslims who will be observing the fasting.
Besides inviting all parties to continuously uphold unity and integrity, he also conveyed the importance of religious devotion and social awareness during Ramadhan. Besides fasting and other acts of worship, it was expectes to create a sense of concern for those in need will also arise.
