Jakarta will Only Buy the Best Quality Bus, Ahok Says

Jakarta Governor, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) admitted had improved Transjakarta service through various improvement such as  e-ticketing implementation in entire corridors. However, there are still some problems that need to be fixed, especially in the addition of Transjakarta bus fleet.

Learn from previous experience, Ahok ensured that the Jakarta Government will only buy the best quality bus. "I decide now, we will not buy the bus with a strange brand. Jakarta must buy the best," told Ahok in City Hall, Tuesday (6/9).

He said, the Jakarta Transportation Department should realize the bad quality of the bus which they bought. It can be proven by many buses that burned during its operation. So, they should stop buying the bus with the same brand.

"These buses are seriously bad. If we found a bus burned, why we buy the same bus again? The children will also understand if offered to buy the Weichai bus or Mercedes-Benz. I believe they will buy Mercedes-Benz because the price only different a bit," he explained.  

But, Ahok also admitted, Transjakarta also have improvement by the e-ticketing implementation so the numbers of passenger in each operating corridor increase.

"Actually, if we want talk about the improvement, you can check the data. After we implement the e-ticketing system, our data show an increase on December," he told.

While about the length of headway (waiting time) is closely connected with the sterilization track because, day after day, the Transjakarta special bus lanes become more unsterilized of public transport.

"We know the waiting time is increase because we still not elevate the separator. I also have asked the police to arrest the violators and give them the blue ticket, but they not do that," he told.
