Jakarta Vice Governor Rano Karno stated that there will be no tolerance for practices that lead to extortion in the collection of these funds.

Rano added that, as a custom, the tradition of giving THR to security officers and janitors who have contributed to the community is a long-standing and natural practice.
"If THR is collected by RW administrators as a form of appreciation from residents voluntarily, it is understandable," he said.
However, the Jakarta Provincial Government will not condone any indications of coercion, pressure, or extortion in the process of collecting THR.
He urged the public to report any form of intimidation or coercion related to the collection of THR to the authorities.
It is hoped that residents' involvement in this tradition remains voluntary, promoting a spirit of cooperation without any forced actions.
