Jakarta Environment Agency has run the integrated and sustainable waste management according to President Prabowo's direction related to waste management and handling from upstream to downstream.
good solution to the waste problem
Jakarta Environment Agency Head, Asep Kuswanto said the waste handling in Jakarta is already according to President Prabowo's direction by managin waste from upstream to downstream.
He added that his side has carried out upstream waste management through RW level waste management, driving a circular economy through waste banks, creating the Jakarta Recycle Center program in Pesanggrahan, as well as waste management in areas and companies, including Horeka (Hotels, Restaurants and Cafes) and shopping centers.
Finding Waste Solutions, Pramono Visits TPST Bantargebang"For waste management in the middle, we have carried out management at the Temporary Shelter (TPS) and TPS3R (Reuse, Reduce, Recycle), waste management in water bodies and the provision of waste processing facilities at the Rorotan RDF Plant," said Asep, Thursday (3/20).
Meanwhile, at the downstream stage, the agency has optimized the waste processing facilities into electrical energy at the Merah Putih Waste Power Plant (PLTSa), which processes old and new waste at the landfill mining and RDF Plant facilities at the Bantargebang TPST as well as maintaining TPST facilities and infrastructure.
Asep explained that not only at the Merah Putih PLTSa where waste is processed into alternative fuels, at the RDF Plant, waste that has become RDF is then sold to the cement industry as an alternative fuel to replace coal.
"Jakarta Environment Agency has a Regional Public Service Agency (BLUD) that collaborates with two cement industries, namely PT Indocement Tunggal Prakarsa Tbk and PT Solusi Bangun Indonesia Tbk. Hopefully this effort can help reduce the existing environmental impact," he explained.
Previously, Coordinating Minister for Food, Zulkifli Hasan, is encouraging waste to become alternative fuel through processing at the RDF Plant TPST Bantargebang, RDF Plant Rorotan and PLTSa Merah Putih.
This was conveyed by Zulkifli Hasan during a visit to the Bantargebang TPST with Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Pratikno, Minister of Environment Hanif Faisol Nurofiq and Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung on Wednesday (19/3).
According to him, the RDF Plant TPST Bantargebang, RDF Plant Rorotan and PLTSa Merah Putih is one of the good steps in managing waste into fuel, as well as alternative raw materials, especially cement, which has circular economic value.
"The existence of RDF is a progress, but that is not enough. The government is currently pushing for the development of PLTSa. The government merged three Presidential Regulations (Perpres) into one regulation related to waste management with electrification to make it easier," he added.
At the same moment, Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung said that the RDF is beneficial for Jakarta residents, especially since Jakarta produces 8,000 tons of waste per day.
RDF Plant TPST Bantargebang has a waste processing capacity of 2,000 tons per day. While waste processing at RDF Plant Rorotan is 2,500 tons per day.
Pramono stated that Jakarta Provincial Government is open to various waste processing technology options that can be built and operated in a relatively short time, and with relatively affordable construction costs. It considers the condition of the Bantargebang TPST that will reach its maximum capacity soon.
"This could be a good solution to the waste problem not only for Jakarta but also for Indonesia," Pramono stated.
