20 Transjakarta Scania Buses Launched

The City Administration launched 20 Transjakarta buses branded Scania, in Lapangan Monas, Central Jakarta, Monday (6/22). Eventually, the Europe-made buses will serve in six corridors.
Jakarta Governor Basuki 'Ahok' Tjahaja Purnama stated, this time those buses are purchased through e-Catalog in the Government Procurement of Goods and Services Agency (LKPP). It is purposed to improve service for citizens, especially for mass public transportation users the mainstay of capital.

Director of PT Transportasi Jakarta Antonius NS Kosasih said, those buses at this time cannot be operated yet as it is still waiting for the administration process, such as license and vehicles registration (STNK). It is predicted will be operated in the middle of July 2015.
"We will operate those buses in some corridors of Transjakarta which certainly can be passed by articulated bus like corridor I (Blok M-Kota)," he said.
The advantage of those Europe-made articulated buses includes the high standard of durability and security, fuel saving, and friendly environment. The basic material and system of the bus are even designed for passengers safety. Floor cover, carpet and interior of the bus are made of fire-resistant certificated BASF.
Those buses have 140 persons capacity with 39 seats consisting of 6 priority seats and 2 spaces for disability. There are 4 CCTV cameras inside and 2 CCTV cameras outside the bus that is at the front and the back. Then, those buses also have 2 refueling pits, each located at the right and left thus fuel can be filled at every side.
