South Jakarta Mayor Muhammad Anwar inspected the location where Manggarai Berselawat will take place at RW 04, Manggarai Urban Village, Tebet, by bicycle together with his subordinates, on Friday (5/16).

"We don't want Manggarai to be known negatively because of recurring brawls,"

In addition to the inspection, he also took the opportunity to meet with residents and provide donations to 70 orphans from RW 04, 05, and 012, Manggarai Urban Village.

He explained that Manggarai Berselawat program is initiated by Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung as an effort to minimize brawls in the area through cultural and religious approaches.

"We don't want Manggarai to be known negatively because of recurring brawls . Therefore, under the direction of Jakarta Governor, religious events will be regularly held here," he said.

Following the inspection, his side will coordinate with community leaders and youth to form the organizing committee for Manggarai Berselawat. However, he couldn't yet confirm the event's date.

"We want them to take responsibility in preparing the area and encourage residents to participate," he mentioned.

RW 04 Head Daud Haris conveyed that residents welcomed the Manggarai Berselawat event as it aims to transform negativity into positivity.

"Hopefully, through the synergy we build, situation in Manggarai will become more conducive and there will be no brawls," he expressed.
