Facilitate Disabled People, Transjakarta will Be Equipped by Travelator

To follow up Jakarta Governor, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) Instruction to create friendly bus stop for passengers with disabilities, PT Transportasi Jakarta (Transjakarta) will build travelator on Pedestrian Bridge (JPO) of Transjakarta bus stop next year.

"Mr Governor wants all bus stops friendly for people disabilities so they could ride Transjakarta bus easier," told Transjakarta Managing Director, Antonius NS Kosasih in City Hall, Friday (6/26).

Kosasih said, until now, the gate in Transjakarta bus stop still unfriendly for person with disabilities who use wheelchair, even pedestrian path conditions on Transjakarta bus shelters do not allow them to cross.

No Minimum Education Required to Be Transjakarta Driver

"We should solve this problem together because they (people with disabilities) complaining to us," he told.

Based on the problem, Kosasih planned to build travelator in entire Transjakarta bus stops using Government Investment Participation (PMP) to facilitate people disabilities.

"We will use PMP to design and build escalator or travelator which have no stairs," he uttered.

Kosasih added, although the travelator will make disabled people walked around to the entrance, they will feel more comfortable and safe.

"So, we should give them a better service," he uttered.
