KJP Try Out Program, Jakarta Facilitates Students to Higher Education

Jakarta Governor, Pramono Anung, officially launched the try-out program for students receiving the Jakarta Smart Card (KJP) in grade XII in East Jakarta.

This is a very good program

This program is to ensure fair and equal opportunities for students from low-income families receiving KJP so they can optimally prepare themselves to continue their education to higher education.

"This is a very good program, where approximately 472 students receiving the KJP are given the opportunity to take tryouts and prepare for college entrance," he expressed, at East Jakarta Mayor office, Tuesday (10/21).

City Government Distributes Second Phase of KJP Plus to 707,513 Recipients

According to him, East Jakarta became the initiator and the first area to implement this program, with a total of 472 Grade XII KJP students participating in the inaugural launch in a hybrid format.

Pramono also reaffirmed his commitment to continue the KJP program and the Jakarta Student Card (KJMU), despite a decrease in the Jakarta City Budget (APBD) for the upcoming year.

He explained that the total recipients of KJP phase two currently reach 707,513 students, while KJMU recipients amount to 16,920 students.

"Indeed, programs such as KJP and KJMU, including diploma forgiveness, are not to be changed despite the reduction in revenue sharing funds which caused the APBD to decrease from Rp 95 trillion to Rp 81 trillion," he explained.

He hopes that this try-out program can serve as a model for other regions. Hence, he has instructed the Head of the Education Agency (Disdik) to implement similar programs throughout the Jakarta area.

He also encourages that funding for educational programs like this can be carried out sustainably through creative financing involving BUMN, BUMD, and the private sector, thus it does not solely rely on APBD.

"I have already asked the Head of Education Agency for other regions to do the same," he explained.

The governor also hoped that through the educational assistance provided by the Jakarta government, students can improve their family's welfare and enhance human resource quality.

East Jakarta Mayor, Munjirin reports that this program provides equal and fair learning opportunities, including in preparing for the Computer-Based Written Exam (UTBK) for KJP recipients.

"Thus, they have the same experience and confidence as other students when facing computer-based written exams for entering public and private universities," he explained.

This trial program will be conducted over five periods, from October 2025 to February 2026, and will be attended by 3,304 students from 40 public high schools in East Jakarta. this is fully supported by Bazis Baznas Jakarta in collaboration with Naiju Academy.

Today's activity is conducted in a hybrid format and will be attended by 472 students. He stated, the East Jakarta City administration is committed to continuously supporting the improvement of education quality in Jakarta following the governor's initiatives.
