Jakarta Governor, Pramono Anung led the coordination meeting of Integrated Transportation at Jakarta City Hall, Wednesday (10/29).
Jakarta may not overcome transportation matter without support from the buffer zones
The meeting attended by regional heads of Bogor, Bekasi, Depok, and Tangerang (Jabodetabek) was part of addressing transportation problems in the capital city and buffer areas.
Pramono also emphasized the importance of inter-regional collaboration to resolve current transportation problems.
City Commits to Continuously Improving Transjakarta Services"Jakarta may not overcome transportation matter without support from the buffer zones, especially Bogor, Bekasi, Depok, Tangerang, and South Tangerang," he said.
This meeting discussed the development of Transjabodetabek, the construction of park and ride, and the integration of transportation systems.
Regarding the construction of park-and-ride facilities, Pramono proposed that each buffer zone provide them. These facilities would serve as feeder points for residents outside Jakarta to transfer from private vehicles to public transportation such as the MRT, LRT, and TransJabodetabek to Jakarta.
"This will be their parking lot and of course there will be revenue for parking," he added.
Meanwhile, regarding the integration of transportation systems, Pramono emphasized that handling congestion in one area should not create new problems in other areas.
This effort will also be implemented in developing Transit-Oriented Development (TOD). Pramono explained that TOD development in Jakarta will be carried out by the Jakarta Provincial Government and the transportation operator, PT MRT Jakarta, such as in Blok M, Dukuh Atas, and Bundaran HI.
"It will be started next year," he continued.
Pramono explained that transportation subsidies for 15 groups of people other than Jakarta residents are not yet feasible. This decision was made due to cuts in revenue-sharing funds from the central government to the Jakarta Provincial Government.
Regarding the Transjakarta fare adjustment, Pramono stated that the Jakarta Provincial Government currently bears a significant transportation subsidy burden by Rp 9,700 per ticket.
"We will make adjustments, but it will not disturb the 15 groups because it will remain free," he stated.
Head of Jakarta Transportation Agency, Syafrin Liputo, said studies on the community's Ability to Pay (ATP) and Willingness to Pay (WTP) regarding tariff adjustments are continuously updated annually to obtain ideal figures.
Transjakarta's current cost recovery rate is only 14 percent, resulting in subsidies reaching 86 percent. This situation is believed to impact the Jakarta Provincial Government's fiscal capacity.
"This 86 percent is corrected by DBH cuts, so this has an impact on Jakarta's physical capacity," he said.
