Prolonged Dry Season Damages Green Belt in Kwitang

Due to an intense prolonged dry season, some green belts of park that spread in Central Jakarta look worrying. Many trees and grasses dead. It can be seen from a park located at Jalan Kwitang Raya, Senen Sub-District, Central Jakarta. 

The rain has not been falling for long, so many plants in the park withered, we hope the related unit to be more often maintaining the park

Based on beritajakarta.com observations, the trees and grasses in the park look brownish and dry. Similar condition also hit flowers. 

"The rain has not been falling for long, so many plants in the park withered, we hope the related unit to be more often maintaining the park," said Sarwan (45), a local resident, Monday (7/13).

According to Ratna Diah Kurniati, Head of Jakarta Parks and Cemetery Department the long dry season causing some plants dry. Therefore, her party intends to replace some plants which survive longer in the hot weather. 

"We'll replace the plants with survive longer in the hot weather such as paku and bougenvil, the watering is also hampered as there are only 3-5 trucks of water tank in each sub-department," she expressed. 

Additionally, in the near future, all parks in the city will be equipped with CCTV cameras. It aims to simplify supervision of all existing parks.
