Covering Drainage, 10 Illegal Buildings in Central Jakarta Demolished

Due to covering drainage, as many as 10 buildings on Jalan Salemba Tengah 1, Paseban Urban Village, Senen, Central Jakarta dismantled by joint personnel on Tuesday (7/28).

The buildings that generally used as business place such as food stall, groceries store, workshop and phone's voucher kiosks are violating Bylaw No 8/2007 on Public Order.

" We encountered problem in cleaning drains because obstructed by the buildings . Moreover, the building also makes the local environment slum," told Masroni, Senen SUb-District Head.

185 Illegal Buildings in Menteng Pulo Dismantled

Beside restoring drainage to its original function, Masroni continued, his side also socializes the citizens not rebuild the building at the location.

"Later, we will dredge the drainage to normalize the water flow because it hasn't been dredged for decades and covered by illegal building," told Masroni.
