Kampung Pulo Demolishment Awaits for Governor's Instruction

Residents of Kampung Pulo, Kampung Melayu, Jatinegara, East Jakarta begin to worry. Considering, until this time there is still no certainty about relocation to Jatinegara Barat flat and compensation related to normalization program of Ciliwung River.

Based on beritajakarta.com observation in the field Friday (7/24), a number of rejection and disappointment banners were installed by the residents. Including on the entry alley towards the residential in RW 01.  Then in RW 02, there are some banners which are written that Kampung Pulo Residents are under protection of Cerdas Bangsa  Indonesian Legal Aid Foundation (YLBHI).

There are also banners written disappointment and demanding of Jokowi's promise, the former Jakarta Governor who had ever promised there would not be residents aggrieved in the river normalization program.

Demolishment Under Toll Road Completed

Budi (40), Head of RT 03/03 Kampung Pulo stated, so far there is no more progress yet about the relocation plan. The latest is when Ramadhan, the residents received a second warning letter (SP2) from the mayor.

"Residents are really disappointed and remain to demand Jokowi's promise. As when he served as a Governor he promised there would not be residents aggrieved, all of them would get compensation. But turns out it changes, there is no compensation for them," expressed Budi.

East Jakarta Mayor Bambang Musyawardhana said, there is still no certainty about the demolishment as it will still be discussed in special meeting involving many related institutes. " We will discuss it first . There is no Kampung Pulo demolishment yet in this week," said Bambang.

Concerning still many residents rejecting to be demolished, his party instructed the local urban village and sub-district heads to approach the residents. He also questioned the reason of the rejection. As based on the existing data, the land which is settled by the residents belongs to water and will be used by the government for expansion or normalization of Ciliwung River.

He claimed, the relocation and the demolishment are still waiting for the governor's policy. "We won't do forcibly emptying before the governor instruct us," he disclosed.
