Akhir Tahun, Instalasi Air Bersih di Kampung Tengah Disambung

End of 2015, Clean Water Installation in Karang Tengah Reconnected

The East Flood Canal (KBT) construction which crosses Karang Tengah Village at RW 08 and RW 09, Rorotan, Cilincing, North Jakarta, has impacted on water utilities networks. As a result, since 2006 the flow of clean water to the residents is disconnected.

Hopefully, in November or December the water flow will run normally to residents’ houses , after all the requirement are fulfilled

Since the dissolution of the utility grid, the water needs of citizens is served by three kiosks which supplied through Aetra Water Tank. In order to meet the needs of public bathroom facility (MCK), residents use ground water brackish. However, as the dry season is still hitting, well water discharge is reduced. While the water supply to the kiosk often slow.

PT Aetra to Rejuvenate Old Pumps

To overcome these problems, Jakarta Governor has been instructing to PT Aetra Air Jakarta via PAM Jaya as the operator to reconnect the installation. As a responding action of this matter, Aetra will perform the installation of 1.5 inch pipe of Master Meter with a capacity of 3 thousand cubic meters per month. As planned, in the end of 2015 clean water will flow normally to 150 families (KK) in 2 community units (RW ) in Kampung Tengah, Rorotan.

One of residents of RT 01/09, Ishaq Yaser (48) said that, since the water supply dissolution, he spent around Rp 15 thousand to buy water from kiosks for cooking and washing every week. Residents use ground water for the shower, latrines and others purposes.

“The water supply often delayed, we forced to share with others. In this dry season, it’s hard to get ground water, thus we do hope PAM to immediately set up the installation,” Sunday (8/9).

General Manager of Sub Business Unit  PT Aetra, Deni Kadarwati said his side has socialized about the reconnection plan of clean water installations, Saturday (8/8). As a result, with an agreement with residents, Master Meter will be set with an investment over Rp 2 billion.

In addition, because the area is located on the border, the use of Master Meter option is the best alternative way to serve the citizens. Later, one of the representatives will be responsible for managing the central Master Meter before the water is flowed into residents’ houses.

“Hopefully, in November or December the water flow will run normally to residents’ houses, after all the requirement are fulfilled,” he explained.
