Inhaling Fire Smoke, A Married Couple in Bukit Duri Found Dead

A married couple, Cristiyono (61) and Martha Yuliani (59), were found dead in their house at Jalan Bukit Duri Barat, Bukit Duri Urban Village, South Jakarta, Monday (8/31) dawn.

Based on information gathered, the victim allegedly forgot to turn off the stove when heating a dish then causing their house burnt at 12.30 AM. When the fire started burning the house, they were already sleeping.
"The residents then asked for firemen's help," said Ani (39), one of the witnesses.

"The victims died because of smoke, as their body are not burnt. We found them lying on the ground," she told.
Head of South Jakarta Fire Handling and Rescue Sub-Department, Irwan stated his sub-department got a fire report about 12.30 AM and then managed to put out the flames at 1.45 AM by deploying 17 fire trucks.
