City Administration will imitate Beijing City's spatial planning and transportation system. This is because, the city has much in common with Jakarta.
The system in Beijing is deemed very suitable to be applied in Jakarta
“The system in Beijing
is deemed very suitable to be applied in Jakarta. They have much similarities,” said Sunardi Sinaga, Head of Parking Technical Management Unit (UPT) for Jakarta Transportation Department, Thursday (9/24).On September 16-18, Sinaga said, the City Administration sent a team consists of 14 persons from Bappeda (Regional Planning Agency), PT Transjakarta and Transportation Department for comparative study in Beijing.
Garden City Made as Comparative Study Centre"Macro-transportation concept in Jakarta should be applied and be consistent. Because it was already applied in Beijing," he told.
According to him, there are three things that could be learned from Beijing. First is development of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) and Light Rail Transit (LRT). Second is system of traffic restriction through Electronic Road Pricing (ERP), law enforcement, parking management and 3 in 1.
“Then third, is development and road network capacity. Such as road widening for adding road ratio from land area, flyover and pedestrian,” he expressed.
Based on the comparative study, it can be realized by constructing an underground access.
Furthermore, he added, the comparison ratio of the total area in Beijing has ranged between 10-15 percent. Meanwhile, the comparison of road and wide ratio is still below 10 percent. Thus it cannot accommodate tens of millions of vehicles.
“There must be flat in middle of our city. This is for people outside Jakarta. It can be an answer to reduce vehicle volume from outside towards middle of the city,” he finished.
