Shallowing, Palem's Connecting Channel Needs Dredging

The citizens of Tugu Utara Urban Village, Koja, North Jakarta asked the related agency to clean connecting channel on Jalan Palem. They afraid the water will inundate the area during rainy season.

It's better for us if the channel is dredged

Masri (42), one of RW 03 citizens, admitted that the channel is not dredged for long time. It looks shallow because of sediment. The water of the channel were easily inundated the area during last rainy season.

"It's better for us if the channel is dredged," he said, Tuesday (10/27).

Apuran River Extremely Needs Dredging

Head of Tugu Utara Urban Village, Nandang Hidayat, stated that his side had asked the citizen to maintain the environment by doing a mass cleaning work, and also instructing PPSU personnel to clean the channel.

"The effort seemed useless due to the channel size. We also had asked sub-dept. of water management to deploy a heavy equipment to dredge the channel," he stated.

Meanwhile, North Jakarta Head Sub-dept. of water Management, Kasna, said that his side will dredge Palem connecting channel after the dredging at Mawar connecting channel is done.
