Breaking Through Railway Crossings, 298 Vehicles Ticketed

Despite they have been warned repeatedly, the vehicles remain break through railway crossings that spread in the capital city. As a result, Jakarta Police Traffic Unit Directorate managed to control hundreds of vehicles.

Head of Traffic Police's Law Enforcement Unit for Jakarta Police Traffic Unit, Adj. Sr. Comr. Budiyanto stated there are 287 motorcycles are ticketed, comprising 1 bajaj (three-wheeled vehicle), 1 taxi, 1 metromini mini bus, 4 mini buses, 4 mikrolet minivans.

He stated his side often hold raid in some railway crossing, namely Karet, Pramuka, and Senen (Central Jakarta), RE Martadinata (North Jakarta), Latumenten (West Jakarta). “Besides them, there are also Pramuka Railway Crossing in Central Jakarta and Pasar Minggu Railway Crossing in South Jakarta,” he disclosed, Friday (12/11).

Budiyanto explained the sanction is in form of ticketing. Based on the traffic law article 11 on railway crossings, every motorcyclist is required to stop when signal on railway crossing closed down.

“In line with article 296, the offender will be sentenced maximal 3 months and pay a fine of Rp 750,000. Hopefully, it can give deterrent effect,” he remarked.
