Long Weekend, Seribu Islands Crowded By Tourists

A long weekend coinciding with school holiday is used by residents in Jakarta and its surrounding areas to go on vacation to some islands in Seribu Islands.

Head of Seribu Islands Transportation Sub-dept, Marihot Marulitua Sirait stated the peak density of passengers crossing to Seribu Islands will happen on Thursday (12/24), particularly crossing from Kali Adem Pier, Penjaringan , North Jakarta.

"Yesterday, there were almost 6,000 passengers with favorite destination Tidung Island which reached more than 3,000 passengers. But today the number is declined drastically," he stated, Friday (12/25).

Seribu Islands Tighten Security Level

It was confirmed by Head of Mina Wisata Cooperative, Mukti Ali, besides ordering ticket, tourists also bought directly to Kali Adem Pier, and recorded 5, 261 tickets sold on Thursday (12/24).

"Most of them go on vacation to Pramuka, Tidung, Pari and Harapan Islands. But the most is Tidung Island," he expressed.

From ticket sale recorded Tidung Island as much 2,532 tickets, Pari Island 1,083 tickets, Harapan Island 1,400 tickets and Pramuka Island 426 tickets.

While from Marina Ancol Pier, the tickets sold recorded as much as 500 tickets to Tidung Island, and hundreds other tickets are spread to resort and residential islands. Predictably, there will be another increase on New Year's Eve.
