Tens of Reservoirs in Jakarta Need Advanced Handling

Tens of reservoirs, lakes and ponds that spread in Jakarta are still far from ideal. Therefore, program of widening and arrangement will continue to be intensified.

Those who are not yet ideal will undergo improvement process. Its realization will be done gradually

Section Staff of River and Beach for Jakarta Water Management Dept, Deden Setia Permana disclosed, at this time, the city has 73 reservoirs, 19 lakes and 13 ponds. From that number, there have been width that is ideal and planned such as 35 reservoirs, 11 lakes and 6 ponds. As for the not yet ideal and still needs improvement, are 38 reservoirs, 8 lakes and 7 ponds.

"Those who are not yet ideal will undergo improvement process. Its realization will be done gradually," he stated, Friday (9/23). 

19 Reservoirs Project Accelerated This Year

According to him, this is due to unoptimal width and depth of the object. They are still far from target.

For instance, the Giri Kencana Reservoir in Cilangkap, the new condition is 43,346 square meters from previous width were 64,142 square meters.

Then Brigif Reservoir in South Jakarta, the width is planned to reach 103,238 square meters and has reached 78,264 square meters. It is because there are still many lands not yet acquired. His side still awaits land acquisition from related unit.

Then the Pondok Ranggon 1 Reservoir, is not yet dredged at all. From planned width 115,458 square meters, the new condition is 111,637 square meters. Likewise with Pondok Ranggon 2 Reservoir, from planned width is 31,655 square meters and the new condition is 17,905 square meters.
